Second-Stage Housing Program
Second-Stage Housing Program
NEW PROGRAM!
New Beginnings Second-Stage Housing
After 52 years of providing transition housing to women affected by intimate partner violence, Ishtar Women’s Resource Society is excited to launch its first Second-Stage housing facility in Langley Township, BC, with the support of BC Housing. New Roots represents more than housing; it’s a space for healing, growth, and empowerment where women and children can rebuild stability, confidence, and community connections after violence. New Roots will be a place of transformation and rebuilding after the trauma of living in a violent relationship and home.
Opening mid-January 2026, New Roots House will provide a safe place for 33 women and their children to recover from domestic violence for up to 18-month stays. During the program, women will have access to emotional support, safety planning, advocacy with government and community agencies, information and referrals to services, parenting support, court accompaniment, life skills training, and assistance to find permanent housing. The 33 units include 13 one-bedroom units and 20 two-bedroom units with four beds each. Two units are accessible, and some units will accommodate pets. The Program Fee will be 30 percent of income or the provincial shelter rate for those on income assistance.
To apply for the New Roots Second-Stage Housing Program, applicants can start by reviewing the program eligibility checklist on the New Roots Second-Stage Housing Application Form. If the applicant is eligible, they can move forward with completing the New Roots Second-Stage Application Form and the New Roots Second-Stage Pet Application Form, if relevant.
