We were honoured to be part of a powerful and inspiring International Women’s Day Luncheon hosted by four of our local Rotary Clubs. The event on March 8th brought together community members and leaders to celebrate the achievements of women and to raise funds for the PEACE Counselling for Children & Youth Program.

Seven of our staff and board members, along with three of our clients, attended the luncheon, proudly representing our organization. It was a meaningful opportunity to connect, reflect, and be part of something bigger.

A special highlight of the day was the recognition of our PEACE Program Coordinator, Rena Andronek, who was nominated to receive a Women of Distinction Award. Her dedication and passion exemplify the heart of our mission, and we were thrilled to see her celebrated in such a public way.

Here is an excerpt from the Luncheon Program:

For over 31 years, Rena Andronek has been a dedicated advocate for women and children affected by violence through her work with Ishtar Women’s Resource Society. As coordinator of the PEACE Program, she has supported over 1,500 families, pioneered school-based violence prevention education, and developed innovative initiatives like Ishtar’s Horse Camp to provide healing through therapy. Her leadership, activism, and unwavering commitment to safety and support have made a profound impact on the Langley community.

Thanks to the generosity and efforts of the Rotary, funds raised from the International Women’s Day event were directed the work of our PEACE Program Counsellors. On April 23, Rena, accompanied by our Community Relations Assistant, Catherine Peare, attended a Rotary Club lunch meeting where they were officially presented with the donation cheque. This gift will go a long way in helping us continue to support and empower those we serve.

We’re deeply grateful to the Rotary Club for their ongoing support and for creating spaces that uplift, empower, and connect people across our community.
