A significant milestone in community safety and housing has been reached in Langley with the official opening of 80 new homes dedicated to women and children leaving violence.
Among these are 33 second-stage housing units operated by Ishtar in partnership with BC Housing and YWCA BC. These homes provide more than shelter – they offer stability, safety, and the time and space needed for healing and rebuilding independent lives.
Second-stage housing plays a critical role for women and families transitioning out of violence. With secure, affordable housing and access to ongoing supports, residents are better able to focus on recovery, well-being, and long-term stability for themselves and their children.
Ishtar is honoured to be part of this collaborative effort and grateful to the many partners, funders, and community members who helped make this project possible. Together, this work strengthens Langley’s response to gender-based violence and reinforces the importance of housing that is rooted in care, dignity, and safety.
Support is always available.
